Preservation, Extinction and Change on a Local Scale

Rizzo, Scott Mensing, Carla Bossard, Ellie Cohen, Doreen Smith and many
others.

Researchers and naturalists will present on a wide variety of issues

discussion will focus on the question: What does it mean to responsibly
steward the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed for in the face of continued fire
suppression, increased wildfire risk, climate change, and increased rates
of biological invasion? Should land managers move away from the historic
paradigms of preservation and restoration, instead embracing the concept of
emerging “novel ecosystems”?
