Can anyone update me on the latest techniques and standards for the measurement of biomass? What I am getting at here is the ratio of soil water "use" by plants to the "actual" biomass produced. I'm looking for comments on the validity of things like basal area and other techniques across CAM, C3, and C4 plants, and significant differences within those categories. I am also interested in ET curves that illustrate variations and significant groupings within seasonal cycles and weather changes, such as compared to temperature, humidity, solar radiation (cloud cover, etc.), and other relevant variables. I'm trying to narrow the scope of my reading and would like to do so on-line, if possible. I have no institutional connections, so my access to scholarly material is severely limited.
