A funded position for a highly qualified graduate student is available starting in fall semester 2010 at the University of Kansas to work on a Medicinal Plant Research Program. A position is available to study the ecological, spatial, and phylogenetic characteristics of medicinal plants in relation to secondary compound concentrations (medicinal constituents, with data supplied by another lab). The potential student will have skills and interests in the above topics and in a combination of the following: botany, GIS, databases, mapping, phylogenetics, and ethnobotany.
The student can seek a graduate degree in either Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, http://www2.ku.edu/~eeb/graduate/apply.shtml Geography, http://www2.ku.edu/~geography/graduate.shtml Or Global Indigenous Nations Studies, http://www.indigenous.ku.edu/Prospective_Students/ The student will also need to meet the entrance requirements and standards for that program. More information on the research program is available at: http://www.kbs.ku.edu/people/staff_www/kindscher/Medicinal_Plant_Res_program/Medicinals_Supplements_Native_Plants_110809.doc
