Hi Ecologgers, I've been asked to look into approaches for building space-time models of bird mortality factors, with respect to their dispersal (flight) across landscapes. We're trying to predict time-of-day, time-of-year and places-on-the-map that birds are more likely to be killed, using kill data from a few different sources. The context is fisheries bycatch of Pacific diving seabirds.
I haven't looked into space-time mortality modeling before and I'm not even sure where to begin. I'm doing some lit searching, but if any ecologgers have ideas about examples or review papers -- specific to birds or otherwise -- I'd appreciate suggestions. thanks much, Hugh Stimson Canadian Wildlife Service Vancouver Canada 778.373.1024 / hughstimson.org
