*Duration:* 3 months *Job Type:* Temporary *Application Deadline:* 03/15/2014 *Job Description:* Grassland bird nest searcher and assistant needed to assist with graduate research student studying reproduction and dispersal behavior of the Grasshopper Sparrow at the Konza Prairie Biological Research station in eastern Kansas. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the most endangered habitats in North America. The Konza offers breathtaking grassland sunrises and frequent encounters with some of Kansas’s finest wildlife, such as bison, coyotes, and deer. Primary duties will include nest searching and monitoring, but may also include mist netting and blood sampling, color-band re-sighting , vegetative sampling at nest sites, and some data entry. Applicants should also possess an attention to detail, strong work ethic, and most importantly, a positive attitude when working in hot, humid weather. Vehicle for personal use is not necessary, but preferred, as the Konza prairie is located ~20 minutes from Manhattan, KS. Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
