Research Technician Position in Agroecosystems

Position Summary:
Full-time, field and laboratory technician position focused on dryland
cropping systems and soil organic matter dynamics in agroecosystems is
immediately available. The Research Technician will assist scientists,
graduate students, and undergraduate assistants in performing laboratory

Specific position activities include setting up field experiments at
university research sites and on farms, communicating with collaborating
producers, plant and soil sampling, assisting with the preparation of
research protocols, and analysis of soils and plants including inorganic
nitrogen, soil organic matter fractions, soil microbial dynamics, and
total carbon and nitrogen. The technician will be responsible for
organizing and managing field work, operating laboratory and field
equipment, ordering supplies, recording and compiling data, conducting
literature searches, and performing other duties as assigned. This
position will be based in Fort Collins, Colorado, but will require
extensive travel across the Central Great Plains to field sites, including
occasional overnight trips.

The position is renewable on an annual basis contingent on funding
availability and job performance. Successful candidates will have
demonstrated strong organizational and communication skills, close
attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and
collaboratively. A bachelor¹s degree in soil and crop sciences, agronomy,
ecology or related areas and field-based agronomic experience are
required. A valid driver¹s license is required. A Master¹s degree,
experience operating farm equipment, and prior experience in a laboratory
setting are desired.
