Post-doctoral position: Vector Surveillance Research

The Clay lab at Indiana University (www.indiana.edu/~symbios) seeks to hire
a postdoctoral fellow to help elucidate long-term patterns in arthropod
vector abundance, pathogen prevalence and environmental conditions as part
of a large, multidisciplinary IU initiative (Prepared for Environmental
Change). In particular, the candidate will investigate existing Midwestern
vector databases, interface with state agencies to identify monitoring sites
and obtain all permits and permissions, establish and field test vector
sampling protocols, optimize laboratory protocols for testing vector species
for pathogen infection, and contribute to the development of GIS maps of
vector and pathogen distributions. Most research would be conducted in the
Midwest in Indiana and surrounding states, and would be based at Indiana
University-Bloomington.

Ph.D. in a biology-related field and experience in field sampling and/or
laboratory diagnostics of vector-borne pathogens desired. The successful
candidate should have demonstrated skills relevant to the project and
experience working on large projects. The duration of the position is a
minimum of two years but potentially up to five years. Salary is $45,000 –
$50,000, plus health benefits, depending on experience.
