The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks an environmental ecologist who will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as supporting the current Environmental Sciences curriculum. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in environmental ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline by the start date, have a strong commitment to teaching, and demonstrate the ability to generate externally funded research. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach and conduct research within the interdisciplinary context of the fields of environmental ecology and environmental science, and demonstrate practical and academic experience in a terrestrial ecological specialty (e.g., agro-ecology, coastal ecology, fire ecology, human ecology, landscape ecology, restoration ecology, urban ecology). Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching and working in an interdisciplinary academic context. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the scientific and social dimensions of environmental ecology with a research program relevant to the southeastern US and that complements existing faculty expertise. Teaching duties include introductory and upper division courses, as well as additional upper level and graduate courses developed in his or her area of expertise. UNCW is located five miles from the Atlantic Ocean on a beautiful 656-acre campus in the historic port city of Wilmington on the Cape Fear River.
