PROJECT DESCRIPTION: I am seeking an outstanding wildlife ecologist to act
as a project leader for a large-scale bioacoustics survey of forest owls in
the Sierra Nevada, California. The successful applicant would lead a team
of 6 to 11 field technicians surveying forest owls at bioregional scales
using passive acoustic survey approaches. The successful applicant would be
responsible for hiring, purchasing, and coordinating all field work. The
successful applicant would also be responsible for leading bioacoustic
analyses, conducting basic data analyses and summarization, and report
writing. The project leader would be supervised by Zach Peery, the PI on
the project (http://labs.russell.wisc.edu/peery/).

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess bachelor’s degree and preferably a
master’s degree in wildlife ecology or closely related field by the start
date. Prior experience leading field crews is also required.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS: This 2-year position will start in October 2018. The
successful applicant will be based out of Madison, Wisconsin but will lead
field work in the Sierra Nevada for 3 to 4 months in the spring and
summers. The annual salary will be $40,000 to $52,000 depending on
experience, with summer housing provided.
