To whom this might reach,

I am a PhD student in Ecology at Umeå University and I am just about to leave for a field work tour across the Arctic. Due to sudden matters my field assistant can’t make it and I am therefore looking for someone to replace her. First and foremost, I need someone who can work a week in Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard 19-26th of July.

My research project focus on the large scale effect on reindeer grazing on Arctic vegetation and I am re-inventorying old reindeer exclosures across the Arctic. The tasks in the field are simple, the person we hire would mostly keep protocol during vegetation analyses and NDVI,LAI and Albedo measurements and perform pellet count transects. I would very much like to find someone with experience of the field situation in Svalbard (I am mostly thinking of the risk of polar bears), experience with handling weapons will be meritorious.

If you are interested, send me and e-mail with a short presentation of yourself and how I can reach you, elin.lin...@umu.se <mailto:elin.lin...@umu.se>. Unfortunately time is short and I will need to make a decision about this pretty much today.

Cheers,

Elin
