Hello We are planning to use baited cameras to estimate the abundance of juvenile Pacific cod. I am looking at two film options:
1) Using an underwater camera with 4K video capability (e.g. Olympus tg-5) and extracting stills from the video at set increments during post processing. 2) Using a mirrorless digital camera in an underwater housing (e.g. Olympus E-PM2) to capture still images at regular intervals in the field. We currently use the E-PM2 with our drone/uas for photogrammetry and surveying and the image quality is quite good. However, I wonder whether there is an advantage to having the video for a "bigger picture" view of what was happening underwater between shots. I also am not as familiar with the still image extraction quality from 4K video. I would welcome any advice/thoughts. Thank you.
