Are you interested in the relationship between the environment and
health?

Michigan Technological University, School of Forest Resources and
Environmental Science is offering a 3 credit, interactive online course,
FW 5510 - Public Health & Environment for Spring, 2019.

This course is designed to help aspiring natural resources- and
environmental science -related professionals make the connection between
their fields and public health. Students will explore how the
environment, where one lives, and what they are exposed to impact the
health of individuals and entire populations. We will apply
foundational concepts in public health to better understand why some
people live longer and healthier lives than others. Focus will be
specifically on how the environment and natural resources can both
positively and negatively impact our health and well-being. Topics
include exposure to environmental hazards and natural disasters, access
to green and blue space, and the built environment.

The course will be offered online by Lesley R. Craft, PhD, CHES.
Dr. Craft has worked in the public health field for over 13 years and
has experience overseeing educational programs for a variety of
academic, non-profit, and government agencies. She is excited to bring
her love of public health to this new course and to share her interests
with students across disciplines. Please direct course inquires to
