Dear colleagues: I am excited to be recruiting for a funded Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography and Environmental Systems at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County for a project at the broad intersection of economic geography and digital geography. Main qualifications: - Background in economic and/or urban geography, urban studies, (urban) sociology or related fields - Research interests and experience in one or more of the following areas: critical/heterodox economic geography, digital technologies, re/productive labor, dead labor, automation and artificial intelligence, urban inequality, and uneven development - Record of outstanding academic performance, excellent verbal communication, and academic writing skills - Experience in *mixed-methods* empirical social science research methods [GIS skills a plus, but not required] - Enthusiasm for research, publishing, and public scholarship Prospective students are strongly encouraged to email me (dill...@umbc.edu) ahead of application deadline with specific research interests.
