In Holland an effort is underway to define procedures for interoperability of
E-Purchasing systems. This initiative was taken by a number of large buying
organisations (Shell, Akzonobel, KLM, Rabobank, to mention some). They want to be able
to connect their ERP-systems to the electronic catalogs of vendors and services,
without the burden of item-maintenance.

The goal is to define the procedural interfaces between catalog systems and
ERP-systems and between catalog systems of different services (a buyer and a seller
may employ different catalog services). The major service suppliers (Commerce One,
Ariba) are involved in the project.

The secretariat is hosted by the Electronic Commerce Platform in the Netherlands
(ECP-NL). Visit their website for more information (unfortunately most is still in
Dutch).
