Redesigning business processes for optimal effectiveness and efficiency EVEN
WITHOUT EDI can yield substantical business benefits. To say that EDI is
required to realize those benefits is shortsighted at best. There are many
varied information management technology tools that enable some things and
that can also disable and hobble other potential achievements.

One must first start with a vew of the business objective, followed by the
necessary business processes in order to achieve the business objectives,
and then look to IT for tools to support, enable and/or enhance the business
processes. This is a tried and true approach that yielded results over the
years and will continue to yield results.
