If the PO number:
1) is unique within each Trading Partner,
2) call in PO and EDI PO has the same PO# if they are the same PO;
Then
you can use TP-ID+PO# for your internal PO identifier, and always check this combination(internal PO#) to see if it's duplicate.

For EDI POs, You can find a TP-ID in the header recorder from your EDI flatfile if you do EDI-FLATFILE process.

For call in POs, you can set up a TP-ID in your customer file, and when key in POs, combine TP-ID field and TP PO# to get an internal PO#.

    EDI-L'ers,

    I have numerous customers that verbally call in an order, then follow up
    with the same order through EDI.  I can't ignore all duplicates in the
    system for there are instances where the EDI order is just an order with
    the exact characteristics as another one.

    My solution is to place the order on an exceptions report for review by
    the account representative.  How do you handle this situation?
