Ian,

Please consider Commport Communications to be included in your research.  A Canadian company doing electronic transactions for over 15 years.  We have found this to be one of the easies and least expensive ways for our customers to perform EDI.  Our clients have two choices depending on their output.

FTP Flat Files - Commport then takes the flat file and runs it through our local mapping/translation software to create EDI files.  EDI files are transmitted.  EDI files are received and translated back into flat files for the customer.  This service is called Cyberlink.  Commport provides service and support for existing and future trading partner setups.
Cost:  $500.00 one time fee if Commport flat file layout is used +  per transaction cost based on volume.  FTP software is free

FTP EDI Files - This is our traditional VAN service and the least expensive.  Commport sends and receives the EDI files and forwards to the appropriate trading partner.  Cost: FTP software is free and transaction costs can be as low as 5 cents depending on volume.

In either case, Commport will do all the setup and interconnects with the trading partners.

If I can assist in anyway, please feel free to contact me at the address and numbers listed below.

Subject: EDI using FTP

Hi

I am looking at getting a list of VANs that have the ability for my client to be able to ftp to and pick up their 850s and drop off their 810s.  The files must be in X.12 format.
A list of these VANs would be greatly appreciated.  I know Sterling has this ability but I don't know anyone else.

Thanks in advance,

Ian
