Randy,
That
goes back to some Northern European work back in the late 80's / early 90's;
COST306. Out of a lot of early work, there was something called the IFTM
(International forwarding and transport message) standard message framework
which was developed along the thoughts that all (international) multi-modal
transport related messages could be derived from a single framework that
represented a model of the transport process; and thus if one correctly
implemented the IFTM framework in it's entirity then one had implicitly all the
transport messages.

Subject: Silly EDIFACT questionThis may be a stupid question, but here goes anyway. What does the "IFT" stand for in message names like the "IFTSTA"(Status message) or "IFTMIN"(instruction message)?Does it have a meaning or is it simply a "name" they gave it?Thanks,Randy RandallPacer Global Logistics925-979-4326
