There is no certification authority for HTTP, FTP, bisync, 3780, async, XML,
SMTP, POP3, etc., etc., etc.

The delicious monopoly that The Drummond Group enjoys is built on marketing
genius, not technical need.

William,

Please understand that Drummond Certification _DOES NOT_ signify or even
guarantee compliance with W3C standards for AS2. All it signifies is
compliance with Drummond test criteria, and payment of large sums of money
to obtain this certification, up front and on an on-going basis. Some would
say that the Drummond Group/Wal*Mart link in our industry constitutes
extortion. I wouldn't say that, though the thought has crossed my mind.

My opinion is that Drummond Group has created a need where none existed
before by manipulating opinion. That's why they receive large fees for
their stamp of approval. Some software vendors have decided not to pay the
fees for certification of what can be independently tested and proved. If
free or other non-certified ASx software works, and the user can
successfully trade documents and MDNs using the options specified by W3C,
including those options not tested by Drummond Group, then the software is
compliant. Why Wal*Mart elects to not recognize this obvious fact is beyond
my meager understanding. My opinion is that Wal*Mart's mandate of Drummond
Certification has significantly delayed widespread adoption of AS2 and has
fostered misconceptions such as, "not certified means non-compliant."

Freeas2 will not help me, as it is not compliant, a tleast not via
Drummond Group.
