I respect your opinions and had we more time available to invest in the new implementation we probably could have made most of what we did work. I agree the Enterprise verison is the way to go but now your comparing a 100 something thousand dollar car with something you could pick up at dodge on the way home. (Assuming you can still get mercator for around 20K w/o support). My feeling is for that price it better well work and better be abl;e to do what were sold on it being able to do. I have many a friends in the biz who use AI (not enterprise) and they rave. So I am not a hater, I jkust like to get up and get going when onsite. I have said my peace.
By the way, that was a great feature of both products, not being trapped in the GUI and being able to let it fly, I too used Ultra-edit for that, gosh I love that tool!!! ----- Original Message ---- From: Dylan Hall <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Srini <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, February 6, 2007 12:58:11 PM Subject: Re: [EDI-L] Re: GXS help Hello, I agree with Srini. GXS AI (aka OmniTrans) is a very complex and robust tool. GXS Enterprise is equally so. In the beginning it can take quite a bit of time to develop and configure an application for ones particular implementation. When one begins testing and debugging it can take time to become comfortable because of the seemingly overwhelming amount information in the log files. Another problem in earning how to use such a tool is that you are limited mainly to vendor training courses and the manual. At times its similar to C programming - you can do almost anything you want - this can be a good and a bad thing ;) However, once GXS is up and running and the development/ support team are knowledgeable about their implementation they will find it an to be an excellent solution.
