There are a couple of open source GPL Projects you might take a look at. One is
Mirth(www.Mirth.com) which has support you can purchase. The other is Redberri
which is distributing a GPL version of BI. Both are not real strong on
validation to standard but are very flexible for smaller shops and have very
agressive and robust interface communications packages included.

Does any body out there have any insight into the following:
I am looking for an EDI translator that is for a small EDI shop (5 TP's
with possibly 2 to 3 documents each) I want to translate a UNIX file
to X12 format and may also have the need for XML and RosettaNet at some
point.
I have looked at both GXS and Sterling. I am not interested in the GXS
flagship product or Sterling GIS as both are more robust (and
expensive) than I need.
I have always worked in a larger EDI arena and am not familiar with the
smaller packages so I would welcome any suggestions that you may have.
