Fred,

Unless you have a customer/client requirement I would forget about RNIF and
use AS2. AS2 is acceptable under the Rosettanet rules.

Many companies like HP found RNIF to complex to implement. Look at

http://eidx.comptia.org/business_process/rosettanet.aspx

CIDX typically will not release it standards documents unless you are a CIDX
member.

Good luck

Subject: [EDI-L] CIDX (RosettaNet?) Envelopes and Acknowledgements

We are implementing logistics integration for an agricultural chemical
manufacturer using CIDX and we want to be as standards-compliant as
possible. We're fine with the message content, but we have been unable
to find an authoritative source on the CIDX envelope and
ReceiptAcknowledgement functional acknowledgements.

It appears that CIDX is leveraging RNIF 1.1, but we would appreciate
confirmation from anyone in the group with actual implementation
experience. We also have a few specific questions:

Are most people implementing the Preamble header and Service header?

It is not clear to us where the schema and schema version is specified
in the RNIF 1.1 envelope. If it is not located in the envelope is it
typically parsed out of the <!DOCTYPE> in the Action Message?

We are striving for imdempotent transactions. Which header is used for
specifying the unique identifier for the business document? The Action
header in the Service header?

Thanks
