As one of those 800 lb. gorillas.....

No, XML will never replace EDI.... As Eileen mentioned (and somebody
agreed) that their system handles XML documents..... So does Mine....

and Leah really has it right, however, when she says "XML can be EDI,
EDI can be XML....".. and to this, one merely needs to look back to
the meaning of EDI (covered in other topics, including "HERE WE GO
AGAIN - IS IT EDI?)... EDI is simply ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT INTERCHAGE -
so whatever format the document is created in - whether X12/ANSI or
VICS or XML or CSV or _______ - if it is transmitted electronically -
it IS EDI.

So, to our original poster, you're fine. Don't worry... EDI has been
around for years and years and years and years and.... And EDI will
STILL be around for many years, decades and ? to come.....

Oh, and Leah - VANS are not the enemy here... If you don't pay for
the transmission through a VAN, you pay for it someplace else - by
having to have big bandwidth on a T1 or wherever.... No matter what
anybody sells you ... TELLS you - there still ain't no such thing as a
free lunch!

not all dogs are poodles.
