I too will be using Softshare's ECS and Delta. I can get just about anything done the way I want and need with them.
The issue I will have is trying to explain (re: convince) my customer's IT firm that the SL layouts are totally inadequate and that mapping and extra coding on both ends will be required. Since the 'integration' layouts already exist they thought it would be a piece of cake and surely turn around and blame ECS and Delta (and me! ) for making it soooo complicated. I asked them whether they can print a standard paper invoice based solely on the invoice file layouts out of SL. Silence.. Going to have fun with this one! :-) John Fiorino _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bill Turgeon Sent: Saturday, January 12, 2008 11:54 AM To: Paul McTeigue; [email protected] Subject: Re: [EDI-L] Integration to Syteline We have integrated EDI into SL 7.05. It was not pretty. We had to perfrom significant mods to the SL stored procedures. We used Softshare ECS and Delta products which certainly helped. For a lot of drop-ship customers, we wrote a .Net program to take the SL invoice, then go get the tracking info and we creat n ASN from that. Works very well. Over 80% of our orders (apprx 4000/mo) come in via EDI. ----- Original Message ---- From: Paul McTeigue <paul_mcteigue@ <mailto:paul_mcteigue%40msn.com> msn.com> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:edi-l%40yahoogroups.com> com Sent: Friday, January 11, 2008 7:53:26 PM Subject: RE: [EDI-L] Integration to Syteline John: SyteLine is a real bear - you may have to "roll your own" when it comes to integration, depending on your requirements. I have a new site to setup and their ERP is Syteline. I find (for lack of better words) that their interface files are 'lacking'. This is for both inbound PO's and outbound Invoices. (Haven't even looked at ASN's yet.) The interface files are typical header-detail- summary flat-file fixed-length ASCII records but the data within the actual records is missing a slew of information that I'm used to seeing in a 'good' interface file. Stuff like, addresses (BT, ST, etc), taxes, discounts - even item descriptions, formats, sizes etc. Some real basic stuff. I can probably query the database to pick up the missing information that I'd need for say an outbound 810 but I find it kind of ____ that someone went to the trouble of defining an EDI interface file when half the data you'd typically need is not there. Anyone else have to integrate to Syteline before?
