I can say I've never heard of that - but the answer is "Sure, it CAN be done". But it will depend on your translator and your system.
I use TrustedLink i-Series from Inovis and I can set what format and standards are used for each 997 I send. I use X-4010 but I can send it as X-4010, 4050, 5010, whatever, because it's something I control in the trading partner set up. I can see a "why" to it - in that maybe - just maybe - they've got some system somewhere (back end, WM, merchandising, whatever) that can't work with the 4010 spec and needs the 4060....
