In nearly 15 years of 'doing' EDI I have never come across such a request. It makes absolutely NO sense.
I can't even think of why this would even be needed. Any translator worth its salt would bundle the transaction within the group level and *should* automatically assign the version number in the GS08. So it is being built with whatever version the transaction is being sent with. Even in a home-grown, mom-and-pop application someone would take the time to insert the version number. Whatever it may be. Why would I even want to receive a different value in the 997??? BTW: I have a couple of sites that deal with HD Canada and they've never asked me for such a thing. I guess you're right - someone goofed. John Fiorino _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dunham Craig E. But it will depend on your translator and your system. I use TrustedLink i-Series from Inovis and I can set what format and standards are used for each 997 I send. I use X-4010 but I can send it as X-4010, 4050, 5010, whatever, because it's something I control in the trading partner set up. I can see a "why" to it - in that maybe - just maybe - they've got some system somewhere (back end, WM, merchandising, whatever) that can't work with the 4010 spec and needs the 4060.... Or somebody at the Depot goofed... Happy Friday! Craig E. For example, if you get an 810 in version 4010, but the trading partner wants the 997 for the 810 using version 4060. Is that permissible (not that any EDI police exist...)? Beside Home Depot asking for this, has anyone else heard of it before? Call me old fashioned, but it just doesn't make much sense to me why they would want the FA in a different version.
