I work for a flooring company and am part of an industry group that has
created specs for 850, 855, 810, 856 and 832's. These have been
provided to the industry to further EDI adoption with the small
companies with little investment. The problem that the 832 committee
has come up with is related to providing a conversion UOM for a
product. An example is selling a carton of ceramic tile. We price the
product by the case but the dealers want to enter the qty in SF or SY.
They need to know how many pieces, SF or SY are in a case. I have
included an example that we have been fighting with and wanted to get
some new thoughts. Has anyone every tried to convey conversions for a
UOM.
