I most defiantly agree. There is no short cut in EDI knowledge. If you are
willing to put in the time, start with the definition's of EDI and it's
sibling components. Move on to process flows and many of them. Depending on
your natural ability to pick up new skills it could come quick or never at
all. Again Art said it right there are plenty of consultants that will save
you in the long run with all the charge backs and other fines attributed to
the trial and error learning you will have to go through. Hire and learn it
from a professional we wouldn't be here if it didn't work. Good job Art.

Thank you,

Subject: RE: [EDI-L] Set of questions to be asked from client for
providing EDI solution

  Keshri,

If you are not an experienced EDI analyst, your first question should be,
"Why are you asking me to do this, instead of asking an experienced EDI
analyst?" EDI is not something you just walk into, and understand. It is
not something you cheat at and succeed.

There are several capable EDI consultants on this list who could do the
job
for your client, and get them started while you begin learning the basics.

One of the very important aspects of being an EDI professional is the
ability to communicate well in written and verbal English, as it is used
in
the country where you are working and trading documents. Your Trading
Partners must be able to understand you well if you want to elicit their
cooperation. I perceive from your posts that this is an area in which you
  could use some improvement.

In summary, without knowing anything about your client's business, there
is
no way anybody here can give you an adequate response. If you are going to
do this job, you need to be skilled and experienced in EDI, and
demonstrate
  the ability to communicate well.

  Please get help.
