I kind of disagree with David last comment: "You can use the 855 just to ack
the
850 similar to the 997".
The 997 is there to acknowledge that an EDI document was received and all the
verification segment and element match.
The 855 is there to acknowledge a PO in a way that you accept or refuse to
deliver the goods in the PO in the terms specified by the PO (price, quantity,
etc).
I can be wrong but this is the way I understand it.

My 2 cents!

Alain

Jason,

As usual a lot depends on what types of products and what industry you are in.
Putting the phrase 'not realistic' makes it sound like you are clueless about
whatever dates you are referring to. You can use the 855 just to ack the 850
similar to the 997. Why add useless detail info? I have seen all kinds of
convoluted info in MSG segments and often it just caused more problems.
Good luck.

Subject: [EDI-L] Disclaimer in Po Ack

Hi all, just want to get your opinion on this.We are a distributor and have been
using Po Ack (855) with our end customers for quite some time now. However, our
business wants us to put a text message like "the dates are estimated, not
realistic"...to avoid any legal binding.
Just want to know if this is normal in EDI messages or if there could be any
implications...
Please share your commentsThanks ahead for your inputs.
Have a good day!!NB
