I can see where it would be ONLY if the sender of the '846' is manufacturing 'on spec' merchandise under some kind of contractual arrangement or if he is warehousing product owned by the recipient. ... > The Business Process I am trying to support is Inventory Maintenance. The idea is > to receive an EDI 846 from the Warehouse and with that >produce a Variance > Report against the Stock Levels in Syspro…. Then negotiated action will > take place to reconcile those variances. .. which sounds like your situation, you own the merchandise. It's a fairly straightforward proposition to add, say some (1000 max) loop SLN subordinate to loop LIN to transmit the lot info but.... > .... I can get Syspro/Cadecus to impement this as an enhancement..... .. just as with all ';EDI documents', HOW the info gets integrated with any particular ERP system is independent of the EDI data handling iteself. (For example, the 94x documents provide multiple X12 transaction set support for typical third-party warehouse transactions; but so what? You still need to get the info into your ERP system) FWIW and IMO.... > want to make sure what I ask for is actually a reasonable thing .. if the ERP System now claims intrinsic support for lot/serial controlled inventory management - that is, your 'lot management' is not something you had to fit with a crowbar - then "some kind" of batch input/cycle counting support sounds "reasonable" to me.
