You may have the schema ("DTD") built right into the document.. or you can
refer to another file if you like. Either way is OK.
Using ANSI X12 EDI you can build the schema into the same FILE by sending an
'868' document along with 'whatever' your other document is. But you have to
be able to understand the '868' first..... then again, if you don't
understand the DTD in an XML you're equally SOL.
