I apologize for the tardiness, but thank you all for your comments.  I am 
essentially trying to figure out if I hire someone who has GIS experience, the 
shift to SI will be minimal.  Unfortunately we can't afford a big learning 
curve so I have to minimize my vulnerability.  But it does sound like it won't 
be too bad.
