It's possible they may be giving you an option.

If this is a one-off procedure you are doing, the ERP export file may actually 
prove to be easier for you to use in creating an import procedure.  You could 
even "kludge" it by converting the pipes (|) to tabs or commas and pulling into 
Excel and running Macros there.
 
However, if you anticipate further mapping projects (additional Transaction 
sets, additional Trading Partners), you might want to explore EDI translators 
or
