The AS/400 and the mainframe are quite similar but the NT is its own animal.
But I'm not sure how many Mainframe and AS/400 installations are left as NT
computers have become so much more powerful over the
years.
Just as a possibly interesting note: You may or may not have known there was a
time when the "Trading Partner" brand EDI
Translator/mapper/communications package existed for both PC and IBM
Mainframe.. both having been originally published by TSI
International. Those, too, are/were different as night and day. Trading
Partner/PC today is known as DiTranslator. Someone called
me about the mainframe 'Trading Partner' maybe two years ago but that's the
last I had heard of it.
Then again, they are all pretty much alike if you step back from the trees to
view the forest, no?
