What are the pros and cons? Some people say programs in biostat are
not as strong in terms of theoretical foundations. My background is
bio with coursework in computing and math. I'm interested in
computational biology/bioinformatics right now. But I haven't done any
research in this area, so it's hard for me to know if I will really
like it once I do it. And I really don't know my long term plans, like
10, 20 years down the road. Would choosing a program in biostat limit
my choices as to what areas I can work in? Would stat and biostat
programs prepare me equally well as a statstician? Or would I have an
extra edge by choosing a stat program?
