I note that these data do *not* follow the Poisson distribution that
one would expect if the particles were uniformly distributed and the
samples were of the same volume (standard deviations are 2 to 4 times
what they would be for a Poisson(N) distribution with N ~ 100.)
This suggests that your particles cluster in some way. Without some
understanding of the clustering process you are unlikely to be able to
get any meaningful result.
