Well, this is largely good news.

While I would miss the contributors who post through usenet the loss of the email list 
would mean the complete loss of edstat for me.   So I favor any proposal that keeps 
the mailing list going.

It might be that the loss of the usenet contributors would ultimately kill the mailing 
list, but I think the list is dead anyway unless someone takes it over.  So, to the 
generous person who volunteered:  thank you.

Also a belated thank you to Jackie for running this list and providing plenty of 
notice so that solutions can be explored.
