Is that the whole definition? If yes, why not name the book so we can
all write to the publisher? :-) *(Or, at least, so that those of us
who teach elementary stats know not to buy this book)

If not, then what is the whole definition?

Howdy all,
The elementary statistics textbook (which shall remain nameless) which
we
are using in class defines a normal distribution as a distribution that
is
symmetrical.

Is this a very isolated case? How long have we been falsifying our
concepts
for the sake of the equationless society!?
