Where does it hangs?
When you boot a linux machine it gives a list of process when is
reporting what
is doing. If it 'hangs' it should hang somewhere in this list. Or it should
fail to acomplish a task.
Usually is Kernel Panic when it hangs. What do you see on the screen?

Sorry, I should say that the cause of my frustration is that I have yet to
be given any error messages both computers just hang, never finishing.

Subject: RE: [marketing-educ] OT Linux
Try a Linux Live-CD and see if it runs, then check which hardware simply was
causing the issue.
Quoting Duncan Williamson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
I tend to lurk on this list and pick up lots of useful tips and info but
maybe someone can help out with a linux query.
I run two computers at home: desktop and laptop and have tried three or
four
different version of Linux on both of them but it simply will not run.
Is there something inherent in Linux that I'm missing do you think?
I know this is vague but it might have hit a nerve somewhere!
Best wishes
Duncan
