I use Nvu more than a little and have for a while. It is not the only tool I use for html, but it is the first when I am making a new page. It is one of the main tools I teach when I introduce kids to web pages.

A key application commonly used by education, especially in the
secondary sector, is the wysiwyg web authoring tool. Most schools seem
to have plumped for well known commercial tools such as 'Dreamweaver'
or 'Frontpage'.

However now there's an open-source cross-platform alternative 'Nvu'
(pronounced "'N' view") that looks to be a viable alternative to
mainstream packages, and it looks set to make strong inroads into the
education sector. You can download it for free from;

http://www.nvu.com

To date I've not spent much time looking at Nvu -- which has its roots
in Mozilla Composerbut goes way beyond the capabilities of this. But I
recon this is likely to be the web authoring tool of the future. I'll
leave you to judge Nvu's usefulness. Let me know what you think.

Thank you, David.

I do not do heavy Web authoring but ot to use bluefish with reasonable success/happiness on Linux. Having used N|vu now for all of 4 -6 hours, I can state that it is outstanding. This is a very superficial impression -- since I have not used any other tools -- but wish to renforce your post.
