I get that effect on my monitor as well, with both the original 
turtle.py and the new one. The effect is exactly the same with both 
versions and  I assume it just reflects the fact that pixels are 
rectanglar, nor perfect squares.

The difference I get is fairly small (1  or 2 %), but I suspect it might 
be noticable on other monitors. And  yes, having a larger window makes 
it more obvious.
