Thanx a lot for the useful information you have provided. I am now sure that we do not
want to use OAS. It was our client who said that we should look at OAS before we
decide upon Weblogic.
Thanx agian,
Shelly

Having used OAS, and dealt with their support, I would strongly
suggest you take a good look at Weblogic. From everything I have heard, it
is much easier to get up and running faster with Weblogic. We have found
Oracle's support to be essentially worthless. Almost any issue we have come
across we have had to solve ourselves. Oracle's documentation is incredibly
sparse. We went with Oracle, because we felt we would be avoiding a lot of
inter-vendor support hassles by choosing the development tool, database, and
App Server from one vendor. Unfortunately Oralce support is segregated so
that you might as well be dealing with a separate App Server vendor.

It supports the following user authentication schemes:
* Basic
* Basic_oracle
* Digest
* Crypt
* Certificate
As well as IP and Domain authentication

Since JDBC is available, I don't see why there would be any
limitation to using only Oracle as the db

Oracle Application Server supports the X.509 v2 and X.509 v3
certificate formats. I am sure the communication between beans on
different servers can be made secure, but have not tried it.
