Hi

Jim's proposal of hosting it on his domains is a really generous one. Here's
to you, Jim!

But hosting it on TheServerSide.com (in the absence of a better option)
might be a better idea. Its just that TheServerSide.com is *already* an
established site and will probably allow more people to get at the
information right now. And I guess Floyd could initiate something on this
front.

There of course must be some consensus on exactly what kind of information
would prove to be most helpful.

Some of the areas we "could" cover are

1) "Official" Features - most important. This could be posted officially at
TheServerSide.com - maybe by the component writers themselves.
2) A few user reviews - Also important. Feedback is critical, or users might
paint themselves (and their applications) into a corner.
3) Pricing and Licensing Information.
4) Underlying technology - EJB, JSP/Servlets - as in what're the components
made of. (I think focussing more on EJB will help us stay on the right path
here. What's say?)
5) Level of compatibility - Which version of which technology is supported -
e.g. EJB 1.1 or 2.0, JSP 1.0 etc...
6) The Company that manufactures the components, a link to their pages, and
preferably a link to the main component (product) page.
7) The particular business areas that the components cover.
8) Whether or not there's any Java adulteration or not... As in "100% pure
Java?"
9) Some sort of classification about exactly what kind of framework is
provided - you know - extent of completeness. I mean, exactly what does the
component(s) provider give you - a whole framework for e-commerce, a
particular vertical segment say, insurance etc ?

This is a bit crude and of course, there's a LOT more that can go in. More
suggestions please!

We could of course follow Confucius' advice and "figure it out on the way!".
