I'm no expert, but here's my thoughts..

All beans need to have a home interface, and they all need to have any CMP
fields specified in their Deployment Descriptor. The EJB Container doesn't
know or care that the beans inherit from each other, it needs to know for
each individual bean what it's interfaces are and what it needs to be
managing, irrespective of what it's doing for other beans (related or
unrelated).

And even if I'm wrong on this, where's the harm in adding the information
to the DD if it asks for it?
