If some of the bea folks is on the line too: Why are you making it so difficult to evaluate and play araund with it for developers. I can' t see any advantage in this attitude. At my university, we get academic licences from TogetherJ, IBM Websphere, DB2, Oracle etc. But with Bea I mailed my fingers sore with no effect. To gain experience in a complicated software tool should sooner or later pay off for the company. Besides: Earning additional money with training. Is that the case with bea, do they offer much training liable of costs?
