The ArgoUML version is more for people who want to actually be involved the development of a UML tool. Posiedon is the commercial version and is better for a typical user. They do a free Community edition that is very full featured. It supports all of the UML diagrams reasonably well (so that immediately makes it way ahead of Rational Rose)

I have used it quite a bit and have found it very good. Make sure you save your projects regularily though as they have had a problem with corrupting project files.

I have also found them very responsive to any bugs you report even if you are only using the community edition.

By the way I am not connected with the company in any way - I have just found so far that it is the best tool for my needs at the moment (especially considering the CE version is free)

Cheers

Lawrence

You could try ArgoUML (it's open source):

Or you could try Poseidon for UML, the code is based on ArgoUML:

It's filled with features, has a nice look and feel. Licences start at U$S 699.

Neither is as complete as Together/J, but I feel that these plus IDEA are a mighty combo at U$S 1100...

Does anyone know of a good and a cheaper alternative to using Together/J.

I have found that its price is really very high and was wondering if anyone else out here uses something else that is either almost/as good/better that Together/j?

TIA
