Note that I didn't say when I first started using java but rather when
it was being developed which is something like 8+ years ago.  And the
company I worked for was not an internet startup.  It had been around
since the early 80's and perhaps before.  Their billion dollar status
was achieved before the internet boom.

And as I said their core technology was selling a complete turnkey
solution to replace all of the major software infrastructure of large
corporations.
