A quick way to check the value of the resistors is to use an ohm meter, ANY 
ohmmeter, and run down the line on the tape strip when you first inventory the 
kit and BEFORE you remove any resistors...It is quick and eliminates the need 
to fumble with each individual resistor as you go through assembly...The 
reading obtained should match the colors...The little spring loaded gripper 
hook tips on the ohmmeter leads are handy for this...

A high school physics teacher pointed out to me, back in the dark ages, that 
the color code down the middle, from 2 to 7, matches the color spectrum as 
noted in the rainbow or a prismatic projection...It helped a little to remember 
that...
