We recently had some K3 firmware download issues. We found that these have nothing to do with new K3 firmware, so you can safely load new revisions at any time.
What happened in most cases was that the P3 interfered with the K3 firmware load. This will be corrected. For now, please turn your P3 completely off when loading new K3 firmware. (If you have the P3 strapped to turn on with the K3, just temporarily unplug its power.) Sorry for the temporary inconvenience. Other download issues had to do with specific combinations of USB-to- RS232 adapters, device drivers, and in some cases the Mac version of K3 Utility. We're working on that.
