Hi Brian. Thanks for the feedback on the KX1. That's the one that I want to get (my boys and I are going to start camping a lot more this year) but for me it's a major cash outlay and I want to make sure that the KX1 and I "get along".
I'm finishing up my Epiphyte 3 and am building it in a "trail friendly" enclosure (controls on top, battery and tuner in the same case) but I also want to get a rig for operating during the daytime (i.e. the KX1). I've heard from several guys that if the KX1 doesn't work out for me that it's quite easy to sell it for what I bought it for, so there's little risk of taking a loss on it. That will help with my decision.
